ProTEC® Concrete Structural Insulated Panel System PROJECTS

Schwartz Residence - 2-Story Addition
Atlanta, GA • 2002

Problem: How to build an addition to an existing home quickly without interfering with family life.

Solution: ProTEC Concrete SIP were pre-cut at the factory to speed the installation process. The addition was dried-in in a fraction of the time it would have taken with conventional 2x4 construction methods. ProTEC offers framing, sheathing, and insulation all in one ready-to-finish panel.

Habitat for Humanity
Pontotac County, MS • 1999
Materials for this project were donated by T. Clear Corp., Phifer Wire Product, Dow Chemical

Problem: How to build an efficient home in less time with minimally-skilled labor.

Solution: ProTEC Concrete Structural Insulated Panel System. This 1000 sq. ft. home was completely dried-in including exterior wall panels, windows, doors, roof trusses and sheathing in just eight hours with only three construction coordinators and five volunteers.

Coordinators: Ted Clear, president; Jeff Ketterer, product manager; and Steve Clear, assistant product manager, T. Clear Corp.

Brooks Residence - Pool Enclosure
Cincinnati, OH • 1999

Problem: How to protect their investment from the damaging effects of year-round water and moisture while providing year-round indoor comfort for swimmers.

Solution: ProTEC Concrete SIP were used because all of its components are unaffected by water and moisture, and it provides a consistent R-value of 20.

Ketterer Residence
Hamilton, OH • 1998

Problem: How to build a home more energy efficient than the R-14 of conventional 2x4 construction methods. The R-value of batt insulation loses 30% of its whole wall performance to wood studs while SIPs perform at 97% of their stated R-value (Oak Ridge National Labs, 2001).

Solution: ProTEC Concrete SIP offered R-20 insulation. Energy bills compared with similar homes over a one-year period showed a 30% per month savings over R-14 stud walls.
